Did You Know? Adsorption vs. Absorption

Adsorption is the accumulation of atoms or molecules on the surface of a material. This process creates a film of the adsorbate (the molecules or atoms being accumulated) on the adsorbent's surface. It is different from absorption, in which a substance diffuses into a liquid or solid to form a solution. The term sorption encompasses both processes, while desorption is the reverse process.

Bleaching Clays

The most effective bleaching technology for oil and biodiesel purification. A wide range of bentonite bleaching clays (also known as Fuller’s Earth) with various levels of activation. For oil bleaching, color removal and purification of any edible oil including canola, soybean, coconut, palm, fish and sunflower oils, and tallow. These clays can also be effectively used for metal removal from biodiesel obtained via renewable, eco-friendly technologies.

Adsorbent Technologies

From the purification of hydrocarbon streams to industrial gases, we have the purification adsorbent that meets your needs. Our comprehensive portfolio includes adsorbent technologies for applications in industries such as chemical, gas processing, petrochemical, dimerization, and refining.

Our activated Bentonite adsorbents are a broad portfolio of products, including the industry-standard, F-Series of activated clays, which utilize trusted and proven activation technology for highly-effective purification of benzene, toluene, and xylene.

The well-known F-Series acid-activated adsorbents offer the longest life span for removing olefin and nitrogen – key to preventing unplanned shutdowns. We provide a portfolio of aromatic solutions, including F-24X, the industry standard.

Catalytic Solutions

A catalyst is a material that increases a chemical reaction rate without sustaining any permanent change. Solid acid catalysts are environmentally-friendly products that eliminate the need for liquid acid. They tolerate feedstock impurities, feedstock changes, and process abnormalities. Various acid catalyzed reactions include:

  • Alkylation
  • Hydration, Dehydration
  • Esterification, Ester Hydrolosis
  • Etherification
  • Acetylation
  • Cyclization
  • Condensation
